The picture-perfect homes portrayed on Desperate Housewives play an important role in setting the tone and mood of the series. Desperate Housewives’ Production designer Tom Walsh notes that the paint colors used for the homes along Wisteria Lane, “…help to tell the story.”

Walsh devised a color palette using Benjamin Moore® colors that allows the audience to easily identify the different characters, since the show’s editing quickly cuts back and forth between stories. These color palettes are used for both the interior and exterior of each character’s home. They provide a subtle, visual hint of the homeowners’ respective “colorful” personalities.

Taking into account the day-to-day practicalities of working on an active set, the durability of the paint that coats the show’s interior walls and exterior surfaces is an ongoing consideration. Thus, Walsh cites the physical demands of the Desperate Housewives’ sets as another reason for his loyal use of Benjamin Moore® Regal® premium interior paints.
